Are You Good Enough To go To Heaven?

Where will you go to when you die? You may say I don’t need to think about that yet but do you really know how much time you have left to live?

The Bible says that there is a choice Heaven or Hell. Where will you go? Do you know? Do you care? You should because the Bible says that you stay there forever!

To find out whether you are good enough to go to Heaven take this short Self Assessment & find out….

Do you think you’re a good person?                                     YES/NO

So when you die where will you go, heaven or hell?                    HEAVEN/HELL

Well let’s put your answer to the test….

Have you ever told a lie?                                                                                  YES/NO

Have you ever stolen anything?                                                                     YES/NO

Have you ever used God’s name as a swear word?                                              YES/NO

Have you ever lusted after someone?                                                                  YES/NO

Have you ever got angry with someone?

YES/NO

If you answer YES (like every other person on this earth) to any or all of the above  God views you as a liar, a thief, a blasphemer, a fornicator and a murderer…

So if you were to die this day where would you end up, heaven or hell? HEAVEN/HELL

The truth of the matter is that you would indeed end up in hell because the Bible tells us “Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.”

1 Corinthians 6:9-11

God’s standard for admittance into heaven is absolute & total perfection! But no-one is anywhere near perfect so how can anyone get to heaven??

This is the most important question you can ever ask & your eternal destiny will be determined by how you respond to the answer.

So what does God say about it?

1.     God says that He loves you & He wants you to be part of his family forever

The Bible says: "See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.” 1 John 3:1

2.     But God says that sin is separating you from Him

The Bible says "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23).

Sin is living without God. This could be due to wilful rejection or passive indifference. Either of these attitudes will stop you going to heaven.

3.     However, the Good News is that God has given you a solution

The Bible says "God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life" (John 3:16 NIV).

When Jesus died on the cross He paid the price for ALL sin – yours & mine & everyone else’s!

However, this is only available to those who put their trust in Jesus.

4.       So now you have a choice, either to choose Jesus or not.

Make no mistake, Jesus is the only way to heaven. The Bible says "Jesus said…'I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me'" (John 14:6).

If you want to choose Jesus, this is how you can. You can receive Jesus right now by faith through prayer (prayer is talking to God). God knows your heart and is not so much concerned with your words as He is with the attitude of your heart. The following is a suggested prayer:

"Lord Jesus, I need You. Thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive You as my Saviour and Lord. Thank You for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be."

Does this prayer express the desire of your heart? If it does, I ask you to pray this prayer right now, and Jesus will come into your life, as He promised & ensure that you will go to heaven because ALL of your sins, past, present & future will be forgiven & forgotten.

If you’ve prayed the prayer what now?

1.       Get a bible & read it. Aim to read it all even if it takes a while. A suggested place to start is John’s Gospel. Find out what is OK with God.

2.        Talk to God every day. Share your concerns with Him & remember to thank Him for the solutions

3.       Tell others about your relationship with God & how to know Him.

With your heavenly destiny assured & as you grow & develop your new relationship with God, you will become a new man/woman with a joy, peace & purpose that will both satisfy & fulfil your life.

Eternity is a very long time, make sure that you & those you know & care about spend it in Heaven!
